General Dynamics Itronix Mobile Computers—TOUGH ENOUGH FOR THE MILITARY |
| |
| |
Applications in government sectors make challenging demands on mobile computing devices, often requiring 24/7 performance in a variety of demanding environments around the globe. General Dynamics Itronix' arsenal of wireless and secure rugged hardware and application software products meet and exceed these challenging application needs.
GD-Itronix is proud to have its GoBook Series fully-rugged computers serve in every branch of the U.S. military (as well as several allied forces). We have over 2000 units deployed on U.S. Army bases and in the deserts of Iraq. The U.S. Air Force uses our computers to maintain and quickly turn essential aircraft (as part of a wireless maintenance application with our partner TELOS). Special Forces Units in the Navy and Marines also rely on GD-Itronix solutions, and the Coast Guard and Border Patrol use GD-Itronix computers to protect and defend our borders and home waters. GD-Itronix products are consistently recognized by the armed forces as "best in class" for application excellence, and for their ability to withstand and perform in extremely adverse conditions.

Benefits of GD-Itronix rugged computing solutions for Military
Computing Applications |

The World is a Battlefield
Designed rugged from the ground up, our GoBook series computers (now branded General Dynamics) feature rugged, wireless performance and features that result in quantifiable benefits over other computing options.
Fully-Rugged to Ultra-Rugged Capabilities
At GD-Itronix, we don't see the need to manufacture computers that just meet MIL-SPEC. Sure, we could meet the requirements by producing computers that withstand 26 one-meter drops onto plywood over concrete. But the military says it's OK to use FIVE computers to get one to pass the test. Our rugged-computing competitors can break four of their units and still pass the test. GD-Itronix expects more than that. The GoBook XR-1 exceeds MIL-SPEC 810F requirements by surviving 26 3-foot drops with only two out of five computers, on all sides, open and closed, even with the computer ON. Our closest competitor needs fto use four out of 5 units tbefore they pass the test. We don't have to make our computers take that kind of punishment, but we can. Because they will.
To get a look at the full 539-page, 5 MB, MIL-STD 810 document for rugged computers, pull up an easy chair and download the file: http://www.dtc.army.mil/pdf/810.pdf.
In emergency and disaster situations, GoBook solutions come through, providing first response teams and FBI-certified bomb squad personnel with data resources and interactive tools to supply practical, step-by-step actions for managing "weapons of mass destruction" incidents.
The GoBook is the ONLY notebook computer that has passed the MIL-S-901D (NAVY) heavyweight shock test. The testing engineers were blown-away with the GoBook's rugged performance. In comparison with other noebooks, one of our top competitor's "rugged" units failed the shock test when the unit's keyboard flew off, the display broke and the hard drive ejected on impact. For the U.S. Navy, no notebook performs under fire like the GoBook. Check out the movie that shows the explosive defense capabilities of GD-Itronix solutions.
Weather-proof computing
When it's 115° F under the blazing Arizona sun, it's difficult to think clearly, let alone handle real-time wireless computing. The same is true in a -10° F whiteout while on border patrol in the Great White North. Rain, dust and desert sand? They're no match for our GoBook series computers.
Our rugged computing solutions (now branded General Dynamics) are made for the most extreme conditions that you face in theater or on the tarmac. Protecting our borders and our citizens from illegal aliens, smuggling and other clandestine activities demands computing performance that is up to the challenge. GoBook series computers are a solid defense.
Heated Hard Drives and Displays
Nothing likes to perform when it's really cold, and that includes your computer's hard drive. GD-Itronix solutions feature heated hard drives and displays that keep the units running fast and secure even when the mercury falls out the bottom of the thermometer. And with our brightness control parameters, the GoBook Tablet PC is one of the few that is approved for use around Night Vision Goggles for military field applications.
In emergency and disaster situations, GD-Itronix computing solutions come through, providing first response teams and FBI-certified bomb squad personnel with data resources and interactive tools to supply practical, step-by-step actions for managing "weapons of mass destruction" incidents.
Advanced Cooling Design
Even though GD-Itronix computers are inherently built to perform when the heat is on, they also boast an advanced cooling design that takes performance to an even higher degree.
Superior Product Performance
How does the military use GoBook computing solutions? For critical issues like tracking troop and enemy movements, gathering and accessing recon data, maintaining aircraft databases and synching realtime with in-the-field SINCGARS radios. A key to this work is speed and consistent performance in adverse conditions. GD-Itronix computing solutions keep pace with processor technology and feature fast Pentium and Centrino processors to ensure that there is no waiting around when the CO wants an answer "NOW!"
It's not only the performance of our hardware that is appreciated. GD-Itronix is consistently recognized by military personnel for excellence in service. Our icare®Services program is like calling in reinforcements for your computing needs. Extended warranties, fast repair and replacement options and other benefits make iCare Services a powerful performance enhancement tool.
Advanced Wireless Capabilities
GD-Itronix leads the mobile computing industry with advanced wireless communications capabilities like supporting multiple radios concurrently in a single unit, or managing navigation from network to network, seamlessly in the field, with Mobility XE - which enables users to remain connected as they move between wireline and wireless networks.
Upgradable Radio Technology
CRMA® (Common Radio Module Architecture) and CRMA Express® allows radio modems to be field-upgraded as wireless data technologies evolve. While most notebook computers have a technology half-life of weeks, GoBook computers from GD-Itronix are designed to perform under fire for 5 years or more.
High-Performance Touchscreen & Keyboard
GoBook Series notebooks feature the ColorVue™ Touchscreen Display. Put a typical notebook computer in full sunlight and what do you see? If you are looking at the display, not much. But the ColorVue display handles the toughest viewing conditions under full sun. At night or in low-light situations a full-sized NiteVue® glow-in-the-dark keyboard and touchpad puts input and navigation control at your fingertips.
icare "Award Winning" Technical Support
No one can afford to take chances with their mobile computer deployment. GD-Itronix has developed a complete line-up of service programs that will maintain the performance and functionality of your entire GoBook deployment. The best warranties in the business and "HOT SWAP" spares and unit inventory options for on-site field repair are just the beginning of the award-winning Diamond, Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby plans we call icareServices.
Security
With features like TPM1.2 (network authentication), Fingerprint scanners and super passwords, as well as removable hard drives to protect data, General Dynamics and GD-Itronix have security covered in mobile computing platforms.
Partnering with Industry Leaders
In addition to providing the best hardware, middleware and customer service, GD-Itronix has formed strong partnerships with some of the most qualified military solution providers available. With names like Lockheed-Martin, Blazepoint, Trident and Defense Group Inc., and of course, General Dynamics, your GoBook hardware deployment will be a complete, integrated solution.
