fex21 The fex21 field explorer is designed with the latest integrated wireless technologies, combining powerful processing, simplified applications development and enhanced Internet connectivity for rugged use in harsh field environments. Using Microsoft HPC 2000 or optional Windows® CE Handheld PC Professional Edition® V3.01, the fex21 combines powerful processing, simplified applications development, enhanced wireless connectivity and back-office integration with Itronix reliability, features and field performance.The Itronix fex21 is a ruggedized Handheld PC rated to military standards for impact and water resistance, and designed to meet the needs of highly mobile workforces. Reliable and compact, the fex21 provides superior wireless coverage in a practical, rugged case. The fex21 has a 129 MHz MIPS processor, 32 Mb SDRAM, 32 Mb flash ROM, and is powered by a 1350 mAhr Lithium Ion rechargeable battery. The unit offers integrated wireless communications via its exclusive CRMA® (Common Radio Module Architecture) and supports CDPD, Motient® (Ardis), Cingular® Interactive (Mobitex), and GSM (dual band 900 MHz/1800 MHz). Spread Spectrum capability can be added via PC card. For visibility and ease of use, the fex21 features an open book design incorporating a 6.5" Half VGA 640 x 240 pixel touch screen, visible across high and low light environments. Users have their choice of either a 256 color transflective backlit display or a 16 grayscale monochrome backlit display; a 33.6 kbps modem is built in along with two internal Type II (or one Type III) PC card slots. Two serial ports are standard. Options include 64 MB and 128 MB Compact Flash® cards, and integrated laser scanner.
