================================================================== Release Notes for XCPBIOS SYSTEM BIOS FOR XC PENTIUM Version 125 Changes since Version 124 (C) Copyright Itronix Corp. 1999 ================================================================== Modified BIOS to set display type in the comos from the configuration string before checking the display select lines from the HW. This is only a SW workaround to prevent recalling failure units. Since BIOS v.125 relies on the display option in configuration string to set lcd type in the cmos, This may causes problem when upgrading from one type of lcd to the other type. (xcpbios125 0083p1067) Changed "Cache" menu options. The "Write Back" option is removed; and "L1 Enabled" option is added. The added option seems fix the random lockup happened in LVWU's 200 MHz units (xcpbios125 0083p1078). ================================================================== Known Problems in this version of XCPBIOS (C) Copyright Itronix Corp. 1999 ================================================================== Known Deficiencies: 1. Swapping cards is not supported when booting from a PC card with DOS 7.0. 2. SRAM and ATA PC Cards should not be swapped during suspend if the card is the boot device. 3. Resume does not work if the boot device is an ATA PC Card. 4. Unpredictable system behavior may occur if power management is disabled in System Configuration Utility (SCU). 5. If computer is booted with a non-bootable PC card in the slot, it must be removed and the user should press Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot. Ignore the instruction to replace the card and press a key to continue. 6. The computer may suspend after disconnecting external power after completing a Deep Cycle Discharge. 7. The computer may lock up if you remove an ATA PC Card while a suspend or resume operation is in progress. You should always click the Windows 95 PC Card STOP button before removing an ATA PC Card. This has the additional benefit of restarting the suspend inactivity timer to prevent an unexpected suspend from occuring when you remove the ATA PC Card. 8. If using COM1 Timeout option in SCU, after a period of inactivity DTR is turned off. Before accessing the device again, the program should do an I/O read of a COM1 UART port and then allow time for the external device to power up. Then, if necessary, the device can be initialized. Only then will the device be ready for use. ================================================================== Installation Instructions for XCPBIOS (C) Copyright Itronix Corp. 1999 ================================================================== To install the BIOS setup files on your mobile computer ------------------------------------------------------- 1.
