                    X-C 6250 Modem Firmware

To install the Modem Firmware for your X-C 6250 mobile computer
-------------------------------------------------------

1. Copy this file to C:\XCTOOLS on your mobile computer

2. Open a DOS box, then enter the following commands at the DOS
   command prompt to extract the installation files:

         CD \XCTOOLS
         XCPMF001 -o

To reprogram the X-C 6250 Modem Firmware
------------------------------------------------

1. Attach external power.

2. Restart your computer.

3. While your computer is restarting, press F8 when the following
   text is displayed:

         Starting Windows 95

4. Choose 'Safe Mode command prompt only'.

5. Change to the XCTOOLS directory:

         CD \XCTOOLS

6. Enter the following at the DOS prompt:

         XCPMDMFW

7. If the process completes successfully, the following message
   will appear:
         33600 UNITED STATES   VER 205

   The last step is to reboot the computer.

8. An installation problem could occur if the IRQ for COM3 is not
   set to IRQ 4 or if your modem in general doesn't work.
   If this occurs, you will get a repeating error message:

        Error programming modem flash, press any key to exit

   You can call your help desk for further instructions on how
   to insure that the IRQ is set to 4 for installation and then
   how to set it back to 11 if other programs you are running
   require this.
